William Wordman passed away on February 18, 2013 at St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit at the age of 78. He was born on July 5th, 1934 in Detroit; son of Otto and Luise (nee Olewein) Wordman. William's strong patriotism stems from him proudly serving in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He was a tool maker, retiring from General Dynamics in 1993 after twenty years of employment. He was a professional gun maker creating the .408 caliber Chey-Tac sniper rifle. He spent his spare time as a Buck Skinner (a primitive form of black-powder hunting). Mr. Wordman had a serious demeanor with a dry sense of humor. Monday nights were reserved with his friends solving all of the world's problems. He also enjoyed his involvement and membership with the VFW Bruce Post in St. Clair Shores. William leaves behind his loving wife of twenty-seven years, Luana. He was proud of his son Randy Higgins (Kim Szymanski) and adored his granddaughter Shelby and grandsons Eric and Christopher. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2:00 until 9:00 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave., at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. The VFW Bruce Post will perform a military ritual at 7:00 pm accompanied by members of the active duty U.S. Navy. A eulogy will be given on Friday at Noon at the funeral home by John Minor. Memorial contributions may be made in William's memory to the VFW Bruce Post, 28404 Jefferson, St. Clair Shores, MI 48081.
