

Zenia Chargot Lowe Former Grosse Pointe Woods resident Zenia C. Lowe died December 21, 2009 at Beaumont Hospital, Grosse Pointe. She was 84. Mrs. Lowe was born Zenia Theresa Panfil on Detroit's west side. She was a 1947 graduate of Marygrove College, where she majored in Economics. After graduation, Mrs. Lowe worked at J.L. Hudson's, selling girl's clothes and training to become an assistant buyer. Those plans were laid aside after she married and started her family. But her finesse, creativity and good taste continued to shine as a housewife and mother. Mrs. Lowe was a loving, gracious and elegant woman. For family and friends, memories of her will linger like the scent of her favorite flower, the gardenia. Mrs. Lowe is survived by her four children, Mark Chargot (Shawn), Clem Chargot (Patrice), Patricia Chargot (Per Kjeldsen) and Karen Gauthier (Paul) and three sisters, Aurelia Amnotte, Donna Powers (Michael) and Claudette Rourke (Jack). Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews Mrs. Lowe was preceded in death by two husbands, Clement A. Chargot and Edward Lowe, and two grandchildren, Patrick and Katie Gauthier. Until recently, she was a resident of ShorePointe Village Assisted Living, St. Clair Shores. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 9:00 pm Wednesday at the A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Road, Grosse Pointe Woods with a 7:00 pm scripture service. A private family funeral will be held on Thursday. The family suggests memorial donations to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen, 1820 Mt. Elliott, Detroit 48207.
