

Barbara Masters, age 74, of Grove City passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2022 surrounded by her family. Barbara was born in Gallipolis to the late Ezra Lee and Edith Maude (Lewis) Van Sickle. She graduated from Franklin Heights High School, class of ’65. Barbara loved to fish, garden, and enjoy the simple pleasures of life. She looked forward to family vacations and planning family holiday gatherings and parties. Barbara had a true sense of humility, but was fiercely protective of her family to the point of putting everyone before herself. Her family was more than important; it was her everything. Barbara is survived by her husband of 57 years, David Masters; daughters Kelley Masters and Karie (Tom) Beard; grandchildren Zachary (Natasha) Burke, Nicholas Burke, Alex Beard, Cameron Beard, and Preston Beard; sister Brenda (Jeff) Shupe; brother James Van Sickle; brother-in-law Charles Tomlinson, brother-in-law Douglas Tomlinson (Sharon); sister-in-law Tammy Boling (Clifford) and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers: Gary VanSickle and John Michael VanSickle. Barbara’s family will receive friends 12-3 PM and 5-6 PM Wednesday, July 13 at Schoedinger Grove City, 4242 Hoover Road (Hoover Road & Kingston Ave.) where her funeral service will follow at 6 PM. Memorial contributions may be made in Barbara’s name to the Mount Carmel Foundation: Hospice Care.
