Benjamin Edgar Stephens

Benjamin Edgar Stephens, age 87 of Columbus, passed away Monday, February 7, 2024 at Brookdale Pinnacle. He was born in Johnstown, PA to the late James Greer and Marion (née Blue) Stephens. After graduating from high school, Ed went to work at Westinghouse on the west side of Columbus. After a brief time there, he answered his country’s call and served in the U.S. Army. After being honorably discharged from the U.S. Army, Ed returned to work at Westinghouse. Ed enjoyed tinkering with things and taking them apart, fixing them, and putting them back together, riding his bicycle, and watching college and pro basketball. He was a kind and gentle person who would go out of his way to help others. In addition to his parents, Ed is preceded in death by his wife Emily and son Bruce: and brother Boyd Stephens, all of whom passed in 2013. He is survived by his grandchildren Ben (Tammy) Stephens and Sara Stephens; sister Linda DeVries; daughter-in-law Lisa Stephens; great-grandchildren Bryan, Brandon, and Cooper; and other extended family members. Ed’s family will receive friends 5-7 PM Monday, February 12 at Schoedinger Grove City 4242 Hoover Rd (Hoover Rd at Kingston Ave). Interment at Grove City Cemetery at a later date.
