Bettie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 44 years, Michael R. Leist; her daughter, Jani (Mark) Oyer; her parents, James and Evelyn Ingram; and her brother, James (Cheryl) Ingram.
She is lovingly remembered by her children, Cheril (Mike) March and Brian (Lori) Leist; her grandchildren, Kevin Leist, Michael March, and Owen Leist; her sister, Jane (Tom) O'Neil; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends from StoryPoint and her years with MAC Tools.
Bettie dedicated 31 years of service to MAC Tools before retiring. She was a faithful member of Grove City United Methodist Church and an active participant in YMCA Silver Sneakers and the YMCA crochet club, where she helped create blankets and hats for infants at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
A graduate of Mifflin High School, Bettie spent her early years growing up on a dairy farm in Meigs County before moving to Columbus as a young teenager. She found joy in crocheting, macramé, reading—especially romance novels—and cheering on Ohio State Buckeye football. In her younger years, she even made an appearance on American Bandstand. Bettie had a remarkable gift for connecting with others; she could strike up a conversation with anyone and truly never met a stranger.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Thursday, April 30, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Schoedinger Grove City, 4242 Hoover Rd., where a funeral service will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Foundation, 1699 W. Mound St., Columbus, OH 43223.
Bettie’s warmth, kindness, and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
