Brian W. Lewie

Brian W. Lewie, 86, of Grove City, OH passed away on the afternoon of September 28, 2025, at Mount Carmel - Grove City Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Grove City on December 19, 1938, and graduated from West High School in 1956. He retired from the Columbus Police Department in 1991, after 26 years of service at the Police Academy as an instructor and executive officer, and commander of SWAT. Surviving family members includes; his wife of 68 years Carol A. (Kirwin) Lewie; sons, Brian "Steven" (Robin), daughter-in-law Jennifer Lewie, Renee (Joel) Wegemer, Chris (Regina), Keith (Missy); grandchildren: Matt, Mychael (Chris) Carter, Sean, Kyle, David, Christopher, Joshua Wegemer, Joe Wegemer, Kate (Matthew) Baness, Ryan, Braden (Savannah), Brooke (Elijah) King, Bryana (Josh) Groff, and Bryce. Several great-grandchildren; James, Caleb, Lila, Jovi, Silas, Lincoln, Miller, Jett, Holden and Hazel; step-sister, Betsy Bridwell, sister-in-law, Mary (Bob) Kinsey. He is preceded in death by his mother, Joanna Bridwell and step-father, Charles Bridwell, and son David.

A memorial mass for Brian will be celebrated on Saturday, October 18, 2025, 12pm, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 588 West Broad Street, Columbus, OH, with Fr. Daniel Bowen, O. de. M. officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Holy Family Soup Kitchen.
