Carla JoAnne “Jo” Leppert passed away Monday, June 17th, 2024, after a full and well-lived life. She is preceded in death by her father, Carl “Lefty” Weaver, and her mother, Ella Maxine Fisher. Carla was born Sunday, November 22, 1942, in Akron, Ohio. She is survived by her younger siblings, sister Sheryl Weaver and brother Jim Weaver. She was a loving mother to daughters Jennifer L. Knight (Leppert), Julie A. Becker (Leppert), and youngest son Jason A. Leppert. She is survived by Jeffrey S. Knight (son-in-law), Timothy A. Becker (son-in-law), her grandchildren Jordan D. Knight, Colton M. Knight, Carrin J. Knight, Aidan C. Becker, Cory A. Becker and Joshua P. Becker, as well as great-grandchildren Roman R. Knight, Camden Masterson, and Kiersten Aungst.
Carla lived a vibrant life and enjoyed amazing experiences. She worked for many years spanning a variety of professions, from executive assistant to horse carriage driver. Carla served as an Area Commissioner in the City of Columbus for years, was an active member of a local garden club, and gave her time and energy to her community. She loved to travel and was fortunate enough to see many of the most beautiful places on earth, including Paris, Greece, Rome, Africa, and Costa Rica. She often travelled with her sister, with whom she shared a special relationship.
Carla loved spending time in nature and outdoors, whether she was tending to her magnificent gardens or taking a walk with a friend or loved one. She had a deep affection for animals and cared for many over her lifetime. She is survived by a very spoiled cat named Daisy, whom Carla loved dearly until her last day with us.
Carla leaves behind a lasting legacy through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and through every heart she touched. She will be lovingly remembered as strong, opinionated, adventurous, funny, supportive, and generous.
Private services will be held in the Celebration Garden at the Franklin Park Conservatory on July 27, 2024, at 10:30 am. A memorial bench will later be placed in the gardens of the Conservatory in honor of her life. The family requests any gifts of flowers be designed for replanting, so they can be lovingly tended in the gardens of her children and grandchildren. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Cat Welfare Association at www.catwelfareassoc.org.
