Daniel Scott Nelson, beloved husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, and friend, passed away on May 25th at the age of 53. A man of boundless energy, quick wit, and an open heart, he never met a stranger and never hesitated to lend a hand, provide guidance, or share a laugh.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Megan; his cherished children Jacob, Danielle Jade, and Gabrielle; his loving stepchildren Madison and Grayson; and his treasured grandson, Roman, along with Roman’s “grandbaby mama,” Jenna—a title Dan affectionately used every single time he spoke of her. Dan is also survived by his sister Jennifer and her husband Keith, and their children Amelia and Oliver; and by his brother David and David’s child, Alex. Born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, Dan held strong family ties and his love for his family was as deep as it was enduring, and he took great pride in each of their accomplishments, big and small.
Gregarious and full of life, Dan had a way of lighting up a room. Whether he was telling a story or cracking a joke, he made everyone feel like they belonged. His presence was magnetic, his kindness genuine, his love was deep and abounding, and his absence will be profoundly felt by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 1st at 1:00 p.m., followed by a viewing from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., both at Schoedinger Norris Grove City Funeral Home, located at 4242 Hoover Rd, Grove City, OH 43123. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to Families for a Cure, at www.familiesforacure.org, an organization close to Dan’s heart that he supported in honor of his beloved mother, Diana. The family is profoundly grateful for the outpouring of love and support during this time and thanks all who choose to honor Dan’s memory in this meaningful way.
And so… (if you know, you know)
