David "Dave" Trent

David “Dave” Trent, age 77, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Dr’s West Hospital. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Bernice (Miller) Trent. Dave is survived by his children, Andrew (Lindsay) Trent, Brittany (Tom) Coon, Bri (Jessie) Tenet, grandchildren, Kendall, Tyler, Trent, Brady, Luciana, and Solomon who will be making his appearance in July, brother, Tim (Debbie) Trent, niece, Megan McGee, nephew, Matthew Trent. He graduated from Youngstown State University and served in the United States Navy. Dave taught band and choir at London City Schools from 1981 to 2005. He took the high school marching band to state finals 18 times and created the annual Madison County marching band festival. He previously served as band director at West Jefferson and Bloom Carroll high schools. During his military service, Dave played with the United States Navy Band in Naples, Italy, and was a part of the Admiral’s Band. He has served as a marching band adjudicator for the Ohio Music Education Association for over 32 years. Dave has been a consultant for different local school bands including Westfall. He has delivered Meals on Wheels for over 26 years in both Madison and Franklin County; he also enjoyed playing darts and golfing. The most important thing to Dave was spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren, he retired so he could enjoy those special moments and was dedicated to making sure he was at the events they participated in. For his children he was strong, dependable and a safe place in the storm. A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024 from 2-6 pm at SCHOEDINGER GROVE CITY 4242 Hoover Rd. (Hoover Rd at Kingston Ave). A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2024 at 2 pm with a time to gather from 12-2 pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Life Care Alliance 1699 W. Mound St. Columbus, OH 43223 a place he dedicated 26 years to delivering meals to those in need.
