

Esther Jane Breckenridge, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and sister, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and strength. Born in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, to Minda and Fred Stover, Esther lived a life marked by resilience, independence, and a deep commitment to her family and community.
Esther was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 60 years, Jack Breckenridge, as well as her sister, Cotton Stover, and her brothers Junior and Garland “Pete” Stover. She is survived by her sisters Mildred Huffman and Dorothy Knotts, sister-in-law Janet Stover, her sons Robert and Phillip “Fuzz” (Sharon) Breckenridge, her grandchildren Craig and Nicklaus Breckenridge, her great-grandchild Jackxon Breckenridge, and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends who will miss her dearly.
A proud member of Harrisburg United Methodist Church and the VFW Women’s Auxiliary, Esther retired from General Motors where she worked diligently on the lock line. Her vibrant spirit shone brightly in all she did, from her love of gardening, cooking, canning, and sewing to her adventurous camping trips with Jack. The couple’s journey began with tent camping at Berkshire Campground, evolving to memorable motorhome travels across the country to destinations such as Jackson Hole and her cherished Smoky Mountains.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to OhioHealth Hospice and Monterey Health and Rehabilitation Center for their exceptional care and support of Esther.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to OhioHealth Hospice at 800 McConnell Dr. Columbus, OH 43214 in her honor.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, from 4-7 pm, with the funeral service to follow on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at 10 am. Both will be at Schoedinger Funeral Home, 4242 Hoover Rd, Grove City, Ohio. Pastor AngieTaylor, Harrisburg United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment Sunset Cemetery.
