It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Janet Rose (Whitsell) Peoples, born on July 23, 1946, who was peacefully released from this life on February 16, 2025, in her beloved home of 50 plus years. Janet graduated from West High School in 1964. She most recently was the office manager (and office decorator/fashionista) at Central Ohio Nutrition Center where she loved interacting with patients and her coworkers that became family. Janet began her career as a Secretary for Children’s Services. Janet was heavily involved in politics early in her career where she was a Franklin Township Trustee for many years. She ran for State Representative in the 80’s, she was also on the board of Directors for COTA. She was a Lead in Unclaimed Funds for the Chamber of Commerce, where she successfully launched programs around the State of Ohio to assist people in finding their unclaimed funds. With her relentless passion for inspiring community arts Janet became the Director of the Family Arts and Crafts building at the Ohio State Fair for many years. When her children were in Elementary School she was heavily involved in PTA and built a library for the school to ensure all children had the opportunity to read and experience the world through books. Some of her favorite hobbies were sewing for her children, she lovingly took care of and ran her grandchildren around, playing solitaire, watching The Walking Dead and Yellowstone, and of course shopping from home with QVC and HSN. Every role that Janet held she conquered and made an ever-lasting impact. Janet was a devoted mother, Ummie and Mamaw/great grandmother, and friend whose warmth and kindness touched everyone she met.
Janet was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Charles Larry Peoples; her brother, Edward Whitsell; her sister, Jody Whitsell; and her parents, Curtis and Lillian (Reiselt) Whitsell; and countless beloved pets. In honoring her life, we invite those who knew and loved Janet to celebrate her memory in their own special ways. A private family service will be held, with plans for a larger gathering to celebrate her life.
