Jeffrey L. Peters, lovingly known as “Jeff” and affectionately called “GPA” by his great-grandchildren, passed away surrounded by the love of his family. Born on March 14, 1944, Jeffrey lived a life defined by devotion to family, hard work, craftsmanship, and quiet strength.
Jeffrey was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Barbara Peters; his parents, Howard and Sonoma Peters; his sisters, Joy and Nancy; his brothers, Dick and Bob; and many lifelong friends who were dear to his heart.
He leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory: his children, Kathy Mullins (Greg), Jeff Peters (Holli) and Jamie Peters (Laura); his grandchildren, Simon (Kimber), Toni (Kyle), Lauren (Brad), Sam (Eric), Rachel (Nico), Matthew (Madeline), and Leah; and his treasured great-grandchildren, Brody, Jasper, Phaelan, Kara, Audry, Addi, Elijah, Asher, and Munchkin — all of whom lovingly knew him as “GPA.”
Jeffrey began his career as a heavy equipment mechanic, where his strong work ethic and natural mechanical talent were evident early on. His true passion, however, was working with wood. A gifted craftsman, he owned and operated Custom Oak Furniture for 25 years, creating beautiful pieces that will be cherished for generations. His love for woodworking extended beyond furniture — he was especially passionate about wooden boats and proudly built one from a simple set of plans, a testament to his patience, skill, and determination.
Alongside his beloved wife Barbara and their children, Jeffrey built a family cabin where countless weekends were spent making memories by the lake. It became a gathering place filled with laughter, storytelling, and the warmth of family and friends — a reflection of the life he worked so hard to build.
Jeffrey’s legacy lives on not only in the furniture he crafted, the boat he built, or the cabin he raised, but in the family he loved so deeply. He will be remembered for his steady presence, his capable hands, and the unwavering love he had for those around him.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026 from 1:00 PM- 3:00 PM at 135 St Michelle, Worthington, OH 43085.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Lutheran Social Services 1105 Schrock Rd. Suite 100 Columbus, OH 43229.
