Joseph Wayne Hull, 73, passed away peacefully at home with his wife Sherry by his bedside on Thursday, February 29, 2024, after a nine-month struggle with bladder cancer. He was born December 18,1950 in Springfield, Ohio to the late Anson and Dorothy (Mitchell) Hull.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Hull and a special aunt, Cecile Mitchell.
Joe is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Sherry Hull; Step-mother Norma Jean Hull, brother Bill Hull (Peg), Step-sister Norean Wilbert (Jeff), Step-brother Nelson Robinson (Stephanie), Step-brother Neal Robinson (Kim), Step-sister Nora Vondrell (Jack) and many nephews and nieces.
Joe practiced law as an attorney in Grove City for 37 years and was involved in numerous civic organizations. He was one of the founding members of the Grove City Chamber of Commerce and served as the 4th President of the organization. He served on the Grove City Area Community Improvement Corporation (CIC), was a Trustee on the Grove City Visitors & Convention Bureau and received a Community Appreciation Award by the Grove City Arts Council. Joe and Sherry shared their love of horses, particularly the Arabian horse. Joe was one of those kids that would ask for a horse for Christmas. Sherry grew up with ponies and horses and started riding at the age of 6. They were able to make their adult dream of owning horses a reality. They had Arabian horses for 25 years and became involved with organizations promoting the Arabian horse and Dressage. Joe became heavily involved at the regional and national level with the Arabian Horse Association and won several regional and national awards such as the International Arabian Horse Association (IAHA) Presidents Award, IAHA National Volunteer Service Award, Arabian Horse Association Volunteer Award, Region 14 Arabian Horse Association Hall of Fame, Ohio Half Arabian Horse Association Carolyn Vollmar Volunteer Award and most recently the Region 14 Arabian Horse Association Volunteer of the Year Award given in March after he passed.
Joe and Sherry were also active in the Mid-Ohio Dressage Association (MODA). Joe volunteered to announce at the association’s major horse show for 30 years. He received the United States Dressage Association Region 2 GMO Volunteer Award and this year received the MODA President’s award for Unsung Heros.
The Unsung Hero award exemplifies Joe. He was happy to stay in the background but was always ready to help and give advice.
