Laura L. Davis

Laura L. Davis (Thornton), 86, of Grove City passed away peacefully on April 27, 2025, surrounded by family and friends. Laura was born in Glencoe, Ohio. She graduated from Bellaire High School and Ohio Valley General Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a labor and delivery nurse from 1959-1968. Laura and Jerry married in 1961 and built a life filled with laughter, love, and adventure. She was a devoted mother, wife, sister, and friend. She was fiercely protective of her family and was a strong-willed woman, a trait that she passed down to her daughters, granddaughters, and great-granddaughter. Laura is survived by her daughters, Shelley Davis (Randy Pfeffer) and Denise Burcham (Michael). Laura had five granddaughters, Sarah Connor (Troy), Maggie Weaver (Joey), Alyssa Parrish (Clay Reis), Abby Hunt (Colton), and Kate Burcham. The twinkle in her eye and the subject of many conversations were her great-grandchildren; Amelia, Emily, and Logan Stynchula, Charlie, Lucy, and Matthew Weaver, and Callum Hunt. Laura is also survived by her sisters, Jeanne Postage (Lou), Dorothy Smithers (Noel), and brother-in-law, Rich DeLuca (Michele). She had many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that will miss her dearly. Laura is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Davis; her parents, Margaret and Bob Thornton, and her siblings, Ron and Virginia Thornton. The family is grateful to Laura’s dear friends, Jane and Dean Lytle, and Mike and Ann Fraley for brightening her last days. The family would not have made it through the last month without the love care given to Laura by Nikki Dixon. The family is deeply grateful to the incredible staff at Ohio’s Hospice. A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, May 25, 2025 at 2pm, followed by visitation until 4pm at Schoedinger Funeral and Cremation Service, 4242 Hoover Rd, Grove City, OH 43123.
