Laura Marie Doland was born on September 17, 1975, to two loving parents, Marie and Patrick Sergio. She married the love of her life, Brian Doland, on July 15, 2000. After two years of courageously battling cancer, Laura passed peacefully into heaven on October 24, 2025, in her home—surrounded by the joy of Christmas, just as she wished to experience one last time.
Laura attended Bishop Watterson High School and went on to graduate from Wright State University in 1998 with a degree in Supply Chain Management. At her graduation the words thank you were written on her cap because even at the times of her accomplishments she never forgot to be humble and thank others. She worked as a Site Reliability Engineer at IBM from 1998 until 2025. She also loved working as a manager for a parking company where she made many wonderful friends and memories.
She is survived by her parents, Marie and Patrick Sergio; her devoted husband, Brian Doland; her daughter, Alexandria Doland; her sister, Lisa (Matthew) Middleton; three beloved nephews, Jace, Tate, and Dax Middleton; as well as many loving cousins, aunts, uncles, and her cherished fur child, Mia. Laura will be joyfully welcomed into heaven by her grandparents and her Uncle David.
Laura was recognized with a Presidential Award for Charitable Giving, reflecting her generous spirit and lifelong desire to help others. She loved traveling with her family, cheering for the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Columbus Blue Jackets. She looked forward to her families yearly summer trips to Lake Erie, where time stood still, sitting on a swing enjoying moments filled with laughter.
She devoted her life to supporting her family—cheering for her father’s football teams, proudly watching her daughter perform in band and dance, and enthusiastically supporting her nephews in every sport they played. This past year, Laura made unforgettable memories traveling to California for the Rose Bowl and Atlanta for the National Championship, proudly wearing her nephew Jace Middleton’s jersey.
Laura was her family’s biggest fan—always loving, always humble, always kind. Laura said that “luck is believing you are lucky” even with cancer she felt lucky and made the best of her time. We will miss her deeply but feel honored that God allowed us to be her family during her time on Earth. Until we meet again to share cheesecake, laughter, and Christmas every day, we will hold her close in our hearts.
