

Loretta Sue (nee Harvey) Brooks, Sue, passed away at the age of 81 at her residence in Columbus, Ohio on October 22, 2025. Sue was born in Edwight, WV to the late Herbert Harvey and Georgia (Webb) Harvey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Herman ‘Don’ Brooks. She attended Trap Hill High School in Surveyor, WV where she met Don, her High School sweetheart. They were married at Herbert and Georgia’s home in Fairdale, WV on June 17, 1961 before he enlisted in the U.S. Army. After Don returned from the army, they moved to Burnsville, West Virginia where Don worked in the gas fields. Don and Sue moved to Ohio in 1966 and built a life for themselves there. Sue worked at MTD in Valley City, Ohio before having two children. Sue raised her children and then worked as a home health aide for First American Home Health caring for elderly and disabled people. From there, she worked as an office administrator for Hospice of the Western Reserve until she was forced to retire from brain aneurysms. She was then able to spend more time at home with her husband gardening, spending time with family and friends, cooking, and doing crafts. She always had a sense of humor and adventure. She was a loving and dedicated mother who lived for her two sons. Sue is survived by her sons Eric Brooks and his wife Lauren and Brad Brooks and his wife Amanda. She was preceded in death by her brother Larry Harvey. Sue is survived by her siblings Jean (Harvey) Cox and Gary Harvey. Sue was a very loving and caring person who would help anyone that she could. She was a devoted wife, mother, and sister. Sue will be dearly missed. Her kindness and spirit were a true gift to everyone around her. Funeral Services will be Friday, November 7, 2025 at 11AM at Sunset Memorial Park in the chapel of the mausoleum. Reverend Dewey Low will be officiating.
