Michael was born in Columbus, Ohio, on June 20, 1965, to Ralph and Carolyn (Train) Francisco. He was 60 years old.
Many who knew Michael will remember his remarkable resilience. In 1996, he received a living-donor kidney transplant from his sister. Through disciplined management of diabetes and a lifelong commitment to fitness and weight training, he far exceeded expectations—the transplanted kidney lasted nearly 30 years. In September 2025, Michael began dialysis, though a chronic shoulder infection ultimately limited its effectiveness.
Michael’s life was rich with meaningful relationships and experiences—too many to fully name. Friends who visited or reached out in his final days often spoke of their admiration for his unwavering dedication to his family.
He was known for his sharp sense of humor and legendary appetite. Those who knew him best often remarked that they never heard him speak an unkind word about anyone. Michael loved to tinker, build, and fix things—earning him a reputation as everyone’s “MacGyver.”
His 31-year marriage to Michelle (Walters) Francisco stood as a true testament to their vows. Many have expressed deep gratitude for the tender and devoted care Michelle gave Michael in his final months, weeks, days, and hours.
Michael understood his life might be shorter than most, yet what stands out is how fully he lived—with purpose, love, and a sense of adventure.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his siblings: Elizabeth (Michael) Comeans, Lori (Ron) Botkins, Joe (Ric Hunter) Francisco; his mother and father-in-law Richard and Mary Lou Walters, his brother-in-law, Mike Walters; seven nieces and nephews; and eight great-nieces and great-nephews.
Michael was the love of Michelle’s life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and will never be forgotten.
Cremation services were entrusted to Schoedinger Grove City. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
