Nancy Sue Baker

Nancy Sue Baker, age 81, passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at her residence with her family by her side. She was born March 31, 1941 in Marysville, Ohio to the late Charles Smith Welch and Eva Katherine Welch of Gahanna, Ohio. Nancy lived and attended Centerburg High School in Centerburg, Ohio. Nancy worked many different jobs as a receptionist, a phone representative for Merck-Medco Pharmacy in the Columbus area. She was a close assistant to the Store Planner and the Architect representing each Schottenstein Store going into business. Nancy did meet a Navy sailor who she did marry and start a family, living in the Sunbury, Ohio area for several years. As the children grew older, she decided to go back to work. She had her own sewing shop in Grove City, Ohio for about 4 years which she really loved helping people by altering their clothing so they fit perfectly. Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Eva (Rider) Welch, sons, David Eugene Layman and Kevin Allen Layman. She is survived by daughter, Tina Marie Layman, son, Ronnie Lee (Susan) Layman, brother, Larry (Dorothy) Welch, 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Nancy is survived by a wonderful, loving husband of 31 years, Jerry and his beautiful family; daughters, Jeri Sue Holmes, Stephanie Arnold, sons, Steve (Heather) Baker, Jim (Amy) Baker, 16 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins. A visitation will be held on Friday, January 20, 2023 from 5-8 pm at SCHOEDINGER GROVE CITY 4242 Hoover Rd with her funeral service on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 10 am.
