He was born December 13, 1963 in New Orleans, Louisiana, Perry spent most of his life in Chalmette, LA, before relocating to Ohio after Hurricane Katrina. Though life led him far from his roots, he carried the vibrant spirit of New Orleans with him wherever he went.
He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Kessling Sr.; his mother, Sylvia Kessling; and his brother, Glen Kessling.
He is survived by his loving fiancé, Kristine Langbein; his children: Skye (Grant) Logan, Paul (Stephanie) Medert, Mickala Kovacs, and Savannah Kovacs; his cherished grandchildren: Zoey Medert, Emma Logan, Coraline Medert, Freya Medert, Kellen Cox, and Raleigh White; his sister, Barbara (Kenny) Patrolia; his brother, Earl (Karen) Kessling; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends and family in Louisiana and Mississippi.
Perry was a man of many passions. He found joy in cooking, especially on Sunday family days—and took great pride in sharing meals with those he loved. Music was the soundtrack to his life, particularly rock and metal, and he never missed a chance to attend a concert or turn up the volume at home. He had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening, finding peace among his plants.
Whether he was fishing, canoeing, or camping in the backyard with his grandkids, Perry treasured the outdoors. Festivals with his grandchildren were among his favorite memories. He was deeply spiritual, a devout Catholic who attended Mass regularly, either in person or online.
Known for his sense of humor and warm personality, Perry had the rare gift of making everyone feel like a friend. He truly never met a stranger and loved to talk, laugh, and connect with those around him.
His spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
