

Ray graduated from Central High School in 1961. He was a natural with anything mechanical, he loved working on cars and riding motorcycles with his beloved wife, Sandy. Together they enjoyed boating and taking vacations to Florida and Branson, Missouri. He was an avid car show enthusiast and rarely missed an opportunity to admire classic vehicles.
He proudly served for more than 30 years as a Columbus Police auxiliary officer, achieving the rank of lieutenant. For over 40 years, he worked as an elevator mechanic and was a dedicated member of IUEC Local 37. Ray was a diehard Browns and Ohio State Buckeye fan.
He took great care of his wife and missed her dearly after her passing. Ray was known for his willingness to help others. He was a true handyman who could always be counted on to lend a hand.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his cherished wife of 29 years, Sandy; and brothers, Robert and Richard Hartman.
Ray is survived by his children, Cheryl Minturn, Teresa Flemings, David (Amy) Hartman, Bryan (Amy) Hartman, Sherri (Todd) Carbo and Jennifer (Jeff) Stewart; grandchildren, Tiffany (Carl) Gallagher, Ashley Minturn, Megan (Marcus) Stalter, Brittany (Laura) Rigg, Kyle (Carol) Hartman, Collin Hartman, and Caitlin Hartman; great-grandchildren, Trinity, Amelia, Madison, Jaylyn, Jozef, and Jade; sister, Mary Lou Rowan; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday, February 23, 2026 at Schoedinger Grove City, 4242 Hoover Road, Grove City, where Funeral Service will be held Tuesday 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Alton Cemetery.
