Ronald P. (R.P.) Younkin (b. Dec. 20, 1941) passed away surrounded by his loving family Sunday July 6, 2025 while courageously recovering from a stroke in November 2023. Following his graduation from Eastmoor High School in 1959 he attended Ohio State University and enrolled in the Air Guard. He proudly served in Korea during the U.S.S. Pueblo crisis. After serving his country, he returned home and continued working in his family’s business selling mobile homes and travel trailers. He helped his parents Floyd and Irene build and run several mobile home communities in central Ohio. Eventually, they started Mobile Home Dynamics to build these same communities in Florida. That construction company evolved to become Dycom Industries, a pioneer in fiber optic construction throughout the country. RP, along with his wife Linda, operated Greenlawn Companies after acquiring it from his parents in 1981. He grew the business building new communities and sales centers throughout central Ohio. Ron and Linda ran these businesses until passing it to their three sons who have continued the family legacy today. He returned to school, earning a bachelor’s degree from Franklin University in 1998. Ron, his mother, and his sisters were offered an opportunity by The Ohio State University which resulted in the construction of the Younkin Success Center, a first of its kind facility in higher education. In 2006, Ron became a member of the RV/MH Hall of Fame. During this time, he was also a member of Columbus Rotary as a Paul Harris Fellow and was proud of his over three decades of perfect attendance. Also in 2006, Ron was able to realize a lifelong dream by becoming a co-owner of Pinnacle Golf Club in Grove City. Throughout his life, Ron supported Columbus sports and especially remained an avid Buckeye fan, attending nearly every home game from 1960 until 2024. Ron is preceded in death by his parents, cousins Jerry Dunkle and Marlene Eberhard, sister-in-law and husband Tom and Patricia Riley. He is survived by his wife Linda (Cianelli), their three sons Ronald (Ellen), Brian (Bonnie), and Brett (Leslie) Younkin.
