Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Alvis and Elizabeth Gene (Barker) Dobson, and his sister, Mary McMaster. He is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Ilene Dobson; sons, Marty (Maggie) Dobson and Matt (Nicole) Dobson; grandchildren, Eleanor, Palmer, and Keith Dobson; brothers, Joe (Pam) Dobson and John (Janet) Dobson; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Tom retired after 30 years of service with Donatos, where he served as General Manager for several locations. Outside of his career, Tom had a deep love for music, particularly playing the Native American Flute and guitar. He enjoyed golfing, a sport he taught both of his sons to play and cooking, especially when his whole family was gathered in Poppie’s kitchen to enjoy his culinary adventures.
A longtime member of Grace of God Lutheran Church, Tom was an active participant in the church community, singing in the choir, serving on the church council, and possibly his favorite contribution – serving as the cook for a community meal each Tuesday night for the last decade. He was also a proud member of the Semiprecious Purple Rock Band.
Tom’s kindness, joy, and dedication to his family and community will be greatly missed.
A celebration of Tom’s life will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025 at 10 am with a visitation time from 9-10 am at Grace of God Lutheran Church, 1000 Demorest Rd. Columbus, OH. A luncheon will follow the service. Pastor Mark Diemer, Officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Grace of God Lutheran Church.
