

He was a proud 1965 graduate of Grandview Heights High School, where he played football and basketball. He went on to attend Bowling Green State University and then served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War where he was a distinguished recipient of the Purple Heart. Tom was a proud Sergent in the Company Kilo 3rd Battalion 1st Marine Regiment.
Following his military service, he dedicated 30 years to the State of Ohio, eventually retiring from the Department of Commerce, Division of Liquor Control. He was a member of VFW Post 10523 in Canal Winchester, Ohio.
Tom loved the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and found great joy in tinkering with wood. He also shared his curiosity and time as a volunteer at COSI. Above all, his family and friends were the center of his life. He cherished hosting OSU football game parties and gathering around the table for a game of Euchre.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Roberta Driscoll, Sally Jackson, and Joyce Sams. Tom is survived his life partner, Cindy; daughters, Jana (Ben) Goulet and Shannon (Jason) Raines; grandchildren, Ayden and Connor Goulet; and many other relatives and friends.
A memorial service, with military honors, will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 24, 2026 at SCHOEDINGER GROVE CITY, 4242 Hoover Rd., Grove City. Visitation will follow the service until 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Tom’s memory may be made to the National Vietnam War Museum (https://www.nationalvnwarmuseum.org/)
