He was born on May 11, 1939, in San Gabriel, California, to the late Charlotte and William Burk.
After high school, Wayne proudly served in the United States Navy as an aerial photographer, capturing moments that would forever be part of history. Following his service, Wayne pursued a career in photography, which included contributing to the iconic Apollo program. He also had a passion for aviation and worked as a small aircraft pilot and flight instructor. Wayne eventually retired as a truck driver.
It was at an ice cream shop where Wayne met the love of his life, Donna Steere. After falling in love, they were married and shared 63 beautiful years together. The couple loved to travel, with their favorite destinations being Tahiti and Hawaii, and were avid Disney enthusiasts, often enjoying time together at Disneyland. Family will forever cherish the memories from their adventurous white-water rafting trip, to simply throwing the baseball and playing catch together, and everything in between. Wayne's love for spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was at the heart of his life.
Wayne’s legacy is carried on by his devoted wife, Donna Rae Burk; his daughter, April Sherrie Bushong and her husband, Joe; his grandchildren, Jessica Lee and her husband, Jon, Trevor Dempsey and his wife, Katie; and his great-grandchildren, Isabelle, Raegan, and Kade Lee.
His arrangements have been entrusted to Schoedinger Grove City, and services will be held at a later date at Rose Hills Mortuary in California.
Wayne will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his adventurous spirit, dedication to family, and love for life will remain in the hearts of his loved ones forever.
