Hybard Delano Paul

Hybard Delano Paul, 83, of Grove Hill passed away September 21, 2015 at his residence. He was born December 13, 1932. He served as the sheriff of Clarke County from 1962 through 1970. Other business interests included Dumas Manufacturing Co., a lifelong cattleman and owner of Action Sales since 1990. He loved the outdoors, especially when spending time working with cattle and hog hunting and spending time in the swamp. He often shared his love of chickens and pigs with young people and enjoyed the Gaither music tapes.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Oscar Paul; mother, Alice Gibson Tarleton Paul; stepmother, Louella Poole Paul; five brothers and one sister.

He is survived by his wife, Vivian White “Sweets” Paul of Grove Hill; children, Billy Alvin Paul of Grove Hill, Rita Diane Henderson of Creola, Hybard Maurice Paul of Grove Hill; brother, Tilmon Tarleton “TT” Paul of Grove Hill; grandchildren, Angela Robertson (Dwight) Pugh of Coffeeville, Jason Paul (Jennifer) Robertson, Amanda Paul McGhee of Grove Hill, Peyton Powell (Anthony) Brown of Mobile, Carmen Paul Davis of Grove Hill, Jami Paul (Kevin) Alford of Grove Hill, Lindsay Alyson Paul of Grove Hill, Keri Amber Paul of Grand Bay, Catherine Victoria Paul of Grove Hill, Lillian Elizabeth Paul of Grove Hill and mother of his children, Melvia Gilchrist Paul of Grove Hill.

Active pallbearers will be Glen Padgett, Jerry Courington, Altonia Pruitt, Kevin Robertson, Macaul Hennis and Don Stisher.

Honorary pallbearers will be Annie Lou Horn, Grace Presnall, Ethel Evans, Lucille Ely, Sue Singleton, Alma Chapman, Billy Allday and James Dunagan.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Union Baptist Church in Grove Hill with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. The Revs. Marion Ball, Jesse Griffith and Mark Seals will officiate. Interment will follow at Ulcanush Baptist Church in Coffeeville with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
