She worked construction maintenance with Bethlehem Steel Corporation in Beaumont, TX, and DuPont Construction in Orange, TX. She was a member of the Laborers Union #853 and retired with more than 40 years of service in 1991.
Sister Moore was baptized in the church at an early age with her parents in the catholic faith and later the family moved to the Methodist faith. After becoming of age, she moved her family to the Baptist faith and united with the 1st 6th St. Baptist Church. She often said she was not changing churches anymore and would remain here until she died. She kept her word.
She was a leader in the church and a catalyst for the well-being of the Usher's department. Whether it was selling dinners, tickets for giveaways, or personal giving raising the finances for the department's success was no issue. She served on the Senior Usher Board as president for many years, and was a member of the Ruth Circle in the Missionary Society. She was an active sponsor and guide with the youth ushers as well. She encouraged all children every Sunday to go to the alter for prayer. She was known over the radio airwaves as "Grandmother Moore". She'd call in and ask for prayers and dedicate a song to all the children, naming her family children first. She served as an Encourager on the New Member Committee and continued to usher until her health would no longer allow her to. She was a member of the M. A. D. group, and the Concerned Citizens for a Safer Port Arthur Committee. Sister Moore has served on the Port Arthur City Wide Ushers Union for more than 40 years as Emcee for many years at various Usher's annuals, 4th vice-president, and education chairman, and a 2 time honoree as a devoted and faithful member. She was a member of the Trinity Valley Missionary Baptist District Association Ushers Ministry, The National United Church Ushers Association of America, Inc. and was recognized as the "Golden Age Usher" in 1995.
