Gwen was born February 1, 1929 in Port Arthur, Texas to Cayrden Simmons O'Neal and Pearl Havard O'Neal. She was a lifelong area resident and graduate of Port Neches High School. She was a retired secretary from Groves School and a member of Woodcrest Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond C. "R. C." Smith; granddaughter, Wendy Smith; and brother, C.S. O'Neal, Jr.
Survivors include her son, Charles "Chuck" Neal Smith and wife Julia of Port Neches; daughter, Jeffica Lynn Toulouse and husband Mark of Toronto Ontario, Canada; sister, Delores Barron of Tyler; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with Reverend Loren Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday evening from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
