Hazel A. Borel

Hazel Alga Chellette Borel, 94 of Kountze, formerly of Port Arthur, passed away on Friday, January 3, 2014 surrounded by her family. Hazel was born December 29, 1919 in Dry Prong, Louisiana to the late Ernest Everett Chellette and Beulah Inez.

Hazel moved to Port Arthur with her family when she was 9 years old. Hazel was employed by Port Arthur ISD. She was a loving mother, devoted wife and proud grandparent. She will be missed by many.

Hazel is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Louis Alcide Borel, sisters, Addie Mae Sedtal and Dorothy Westmoreland, brother, J.D. Chellette, daughter, Sherry Borel Hebert, stepsons, Louis Borel, Jr. and Joseph R. Borel, grandsons, Jay Gregory Comeaux and Dustin Porter.

She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Borel Mayfield of Kountze; Nancy Borel of Kountze; Evelyn Borel Porter of Hamshire; stepdaughter, Majorie Borel Laufenberg of Hot Springs, Arkansas; sons, Leo "Put" G. Borel of Orangefield; Glenn E. Borel of Corpus Christi; stepson, C.L. Borel of Nederland; sister Hilda Ryland of Ruby, Louisiana; 32 grandchildren and 63 great grandchildren and numerous great – great grandchildren.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, January 6, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves.
