

Jim was born on October 19, 1940 in Port Arthur, Texas to parents Carl Albert Teinert and Ruth H. Teinert. He graduated from Port Arthur Thomas Jefferson High School in 1958 and attended Lamar University where he studied Engineering. Jim began his first career in 1959 working in the shipbuilding business. For many years he designed ships and worked as a draftsman for Burton Shipyard in Port Arthur. In the late 1970's he and two partners founded and co-owned Gulfgate Shipyard and later founded and operated Gulf Stream Barge Line. In the early 1990's Jim began his second career with the Robert E. Barron law firm. He retired in 2011 after serving nearly 20 years for the firm.
Jim was passionate about his family, his work and his home. He cherished his kids and grandchildren and was a devoted friend to many people who enjoyed his sense of humor and incredible smile. He had the uncanny ability to tell stories for hours on end and never forgot a face. As a sports enthusiast, he enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Astros, and never missed reading the Sunday Bob West column.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife Paula Kay Teinert, daughter Stacy Lynn Teinert, and both parents.
He is survived by his son Lance Teinert and wife Ellie; son Brett Teinert and friend Dana Gray; grandson Chase Teinert; granddaughter Lanie Teinert; sister Joanne Ash and husband Karl, many relatives and friends; and his special friend Lillian "Sweetie" Guidry.
A visitation will be held on Friday, September 21, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. A service will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
