Melva J. Washington, 73, passed away in Spring, TX. - Sunday, September 9th. She is survived by her son, Ron Washington; three grandchildren, Kaylee, Kamar & Kristen Washington; brother, Woodrow Wilson and sister, Peggy Williams, and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was a faithful member of New Saint John’s Baptist Church where she served faithfully with the Elizabeth Circle and was also a Sunday School Teacher.
Melva received a B.S. in Education & Masters in Education from Prairie View A&M University. She began her passion for teaching in the Port Arthur Independent School District. She retired after over forty years of teaching.
Services will be held Saturday, September 15th at 1:00pm at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 549 West Gulfway Drive, viewing from 11:00am to 1:00pm. Entombment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
