Wayne Sr Morris

On Tuesday May 5, 2015 Rev. Wayne Morris, Sr. passed away. Rev. Wayne was one of six children born to the late Louisa Mae and Joseph Morris on Saturday, December 1, 1956. He was born and raised in Port Arthur, Texas. He attended elementary and middle schools in Port Arthur. He was a star quarterback at Lincoln High School and graduated in 1975.

Rev. Wayne went on to attend Paul Quinn College in Waco, TX and graduated in 1979, where he studied Pre-med Biology with the intentions of becoming a doctor, but God had other plans and he accepted the call to the ministry and later became the Pastor of First Sixth Street Baptist Church in Port Arthur, TX. While in school, he met and married Sherri Lynn McAshan and four children were born. At the time of his passing, he served as the Administrator of the Jefferson County Health and Welfare Department.

On Monday, May 11, 2015 services will be held at Rock Island Baptist Church where the Rev. Ransom E. Howard is Pastor, viewing beginning at 9 a.m. The Service will begin promptly at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Greenlawn with services entrusted to Hannah Funeral home, Inc
