

SCHMIDT, Alvin Joseph (Smitty): Peacefully on Sunday March 11, 2012 with his family by his side. Alvin returned home to eternal peace where he will be welcomed with open arms by his Lord and Saviour. Beloved husband of 65 years to Anna (Moyer). Loving and supportive Dad to Wayne (Nadia), Pat (Gloria), Jackie (Glenn), and Jo-Anne (Rob). His legacy continues with 9 grandchildren whom he adored; Craig (Shannon), Stephanie (Phil), Kara (Giovanni), Melanie (Matthew), Chris (Rebecca), Andrea, Melissa, Joel, and Brandon; and his great grandchildren, Tristan, Alexis, Serena, Lorenzo, Mya, McKenzie, Keelia, Ashton, Riley, Connor, Erik, and Leah. Predeceased by his Parents, Oscar and Veronica Schmidt, his siblings, John, Leonard, and Joan. Survived by siblings, Paul (Rhoda) and Max Bolton (Don). Smitty resided in Guelph for over 60 years and was owner/operator of Canadian Cab #1 for over 30 years. He will always be #1 in our hearts. Visitation will be held at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph, on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at 11 a.m. with reception to follow. Interment to follow the reception at Marymount Cemetery, Guelph. Dad was a big believer in helping others, in lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Guelph Wellington would be appreciated by the family.
