Amy Winnifred Lenny

Lenney, Amy -- It is with great sadness that we announce the death of a wonderful and special mum, mum-in-law, grannie, and great-grannie. She left us peacefully at the Guelph General Hospital on Tuesday October 14, 2008 in her 94th year following a brief illness. She was born in Lancashire, England where she lived for most of her life. She left there after the death of Duncan, her husband of 51 years, to make a new life for herself in Canada, where she was warmly welcomed and surrounded by us, her only close family. Left to mourn our loss and celebrate her long life are her loving daughter Marcia Haworth and her husband Chris; devoted grandchildren Beth and her husband James, Mike and his wife Janet; Patrick; Dan and his wife Lisa; and her seven wonderful great-grandchildren who loved their Great-Grannie-Amy very much and of whom she was very proud. They are Adam, Madison and Joey; Olivia and Sam; Michaela and Lauren. We hope and pray that her Canadian offspring have inherited at least a little of her spunk, sense of fun and enthusiasm for life. At the family's request there will be no visitation at the funeral home. A Funeral Service to celebrate Amy's life will be held at Rockwood United Church, Harris St., Rockwood on Sunday, October 19, 2008 at 3 p.m. with The Rev. Lynne Bandy Officiating. Interment Rockwood Cemetery on Monday, October 20, 2008 at 11 a.m. The family invites anyone wishing to make a donation in lieu of flowers to contribute to The Masai for African Centre for Global and Regional Health, 409 Woolwich Street, Guelph, Ontario.
