Beloved mother of Michael (Wendy), Mark and Paula (Greg). Devoted wife of 70 years to the love of her life, the late Michael Steffler (2023). Will be sadly missed by sisters Caroline, Rosalinde, brother Patrick, three generations of grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. Predeceased by father Jerome, mother Rose, siblings David, Bill, Allyn, Trudy and daughter-in-law Sam.
The oldest of eight children, Barbara embraced her role with quiet strength, guiding and nurturing her siblings with grace. Family was the heart of her life, and her warmth, devotion, and ever-present smile made every gathering more joyful.
A devoted member of Holy Rosary Church, Barbara’s faith was lived fully through her heartfelt voice in the church choir and her faithful service with the Catholic Women's League. She never sought the spotlight, but her quiet presence brought calm and kindness wherever she went.
Barbara found happiness in simple pleasures — sewing with care, baking her famous Christmas treats (especially those legendary cakes with a kick), and dancing with a spirit that lit up the room. She was always the first on the dance floor and the last to leave, showing that even the shyest hearts can shine the brightest.
Gracious, reserved, and full of quiet joy, Barbara leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty. Her infectious smile and gentle spirit will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
The family wishes to extend their sincerest gratitude and thanks to the Village of Glendale Crossing, especially the staff of Emma’s Neighbourhood. And a special thank you to Dr. Kirk Hamilton, Nurse Geetika of St. Elizabeth’s Health Care and the palliative/hospice team from the Victorian Order of Nurses (VON).
Arrangements entrusted to Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will take place at Holy Rosary Church, 175 Emma St, Guelph, on Friday July 25, 2025, at 10:30AM. Inurnment and reception to follow at Marymount Cemetery, 5400 Hwy 6, Guelph.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to St. Elizabeth Foundation or the VON would be greatly appreciated by the family. Donations and condolences can be made online at www.gilbertmacintyreandson-hart.com
