Doug Gamsby

Peacefully at the Guelph General Hospital on Saturday, February 7, 2015. Doug Gamsby, age 75 years, beloved husband and best friend of Barb (Bathgate) Gamsby. Dear father of Paul of British Columbia; Dave (Lisa) of Guelph; and Beth (Sid) Somerville of Kitchener. Loved Gramps of Nolan and Jemma. Dear brother of Kay (Harold) Snell of Oshawa; Grace (John) Boyd of Orillia; and the late Jim (Nancy) of Whitby. Doug will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Doug graduated from the University of Toronto in 1961 and founded Gamsby and Mannerow Ltd. Consulting Engineers in 1966, retiring in 2006 after 40 successful years. His passion for Rotary, horses, golf, and love of life will be remembered forever. Doug truly lived each and every day by the creed of “Service Above Self.” A profound thank you to Drs. Ganapathy and Shende and the staff of the Critical Care Unit of the Guelph General Hospital for the unparalleled care. Friends will be received at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph (Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.) where funeral service will be held in the chapel on Friday, February 13, 2015 at 2 o’clock.
