Douglas Leonard Sawa

Reverend Dr. Douglas L. Sawa (Doug) passed away on January 29th, 2021 in Guelph, ON. In life, Doug chose to show more concern for the needs of his family, his patients and for his communities than he did for himself. In his passing, we show our appreciation for his many achievements and for what he gave us. Doug was a husband, a father, a brother, a grandfather and a great-grandfather. He was a servant and he was a leader. He was an athlete and a sailor in the Royal Canadian Navy. He was a dentist, a public health advocate, an educator and a deacon. Doug was strong. He is survived by his extraordinary wife, Rita. He is survived by Blair & Sandra, Jim & Nina, Paul & Andrea, Ted & Michele, and Michelle & John. By Taylor, Simon, Jessica, Aidan, Luke, Isaac, Haley and Roman. And now Thia.

When Jesus opens the Life Book in heaven, he will turn to Doug and say, this one I know.

Resting at Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph. Respecting the current situation and pandemic restrictions, the visitation and Funeral Mass will be private.
