

BONALDO, Gildo - Passed away peacefully at the Guelph General Hospital on Thursday, May 28, 2009. He was surrounded by the love of his beloved family and is now with God and with his dear wife Graziosa who predeceased him 15 months ago (Feb. 2008). Gildo was in his 86th year and was the loving father of Marcella and her husband Brian Mulligan of Niagara Falls, Marisa and her husband Dave Phillips, Rick and his wife Michele Bonaldo of Guelph. His grandchildren meant the world to him and Nono will be dearly missed by Jeffrey and his wife Melissa Mulligan, Jennifer Mulligan, Michael and Kyle Phillips, Gabriel, Andre and Nicole Bonaldo. Gildo was the son of the late Secondo and Marcellina Bonaldo, eldest brother of Gianni and his wife Lidia Bonaldo, Anna and the late Angelo Guerin of Niagara Falls, sisters Aurora and her husband Santin Pinton, Angela and the late Carlin Petrin and Teresa and her husband Benito Bressan of Italy. Gildo was the brother-in-law of, Joe Bellon and his wife Deloris Gino Bellon and his wife Lidia of Guelph, Gabriella Bonaldo, Assunta Passinato and her husband Carlo, Angela and the late Severino Bellon, Albino Bellon and his wife Bruna of Italy. He was predeceased by his brother Marcello Bonaldo and by his sister Suor Fiorenza Bonaldo. Special cousin of Luigi and Bernardina Bonaldo of Guelph. He will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, special friends and family in Canada and Italy. Gildo will be remembered as a loving husband, father, Nono and dear friend and neighbor. He worked hard his entire life beginning at the early age of 12 years old in Piedmonte, Italy. Gildo immigrated to Niagara Falls, Canada with his new wife of one year in 1951 where they began their life together. He moved the family to Guelph in 1959 and was the first to settle on the unforgettable Joseph Street. He dedicated his life to his love of family, his amazing garden and wonderful “eggs”. He reduced his carbon footprint long before it was in fashion to do so … reducing, reusing and recycling everything!! He will be forever remembered and loved. Resting at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Dublin Chapel, 252 Dublin St. N., Guelph where the family will receive friends on Sunday, May 31, 2009 from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. A Vigil for Gildo will be held Sunday at 8:45 p.m. The Funeral Mass will take place at St. John's Church, 45 Victoria Rd. N., Guelph on Monday, June 1, 2009 at 12:00 noon. Entombment, OLIM Marymount Cemetery, Guelph.
