

Gordon Elliott Parks, aged 91, passed away Friday September 9, 2022 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. He leaves his wife of 69 years Bessie Marie (Smith) and children Janet Elaine Smith (Doug), Sandra Joyce Findlay, Leslie Gordon (deceased) and Rodger Albert (Sharon). His nine grandchildren (Joseph, Angela, Michelle, David, Steven, Kristen, Eric, Pamela and Carolyn) and eleven greatgrandchildren (Cora, Davin, Elyanna, Tobin, Malikah, Khaliq, Daylin, Violet, August, Nova and Atlas) will miss the benefit of his sharp mind and kind heart.
Gordon was born July 13, 1931, the middle child of Cecil and Lida Parks in Kentville, Nova Scotia. During his 15 years in the army he fought in Korea and served in London, Shilo and Petawawa. He completed a correspondence degree as an electronics technician before leaving the army in 1964. He worked for Nortel, and Hewlett-Packard until retirement. He and Bessie wintered in Florida for many years and explored the world. He saw the sun rise in Machu Picchu, walked in the rainforest in New Zealand, saw Olympus and sailed down the Rhine as part of his travels. He felt the pull of family and Nova Scotia his whole life and drove home almost every year for at least a short visit, the last being fall of 2021. He made his life count through his work, his family, his friends and his church. He will be sorely missed.
Resting at Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph, where the family will receive friends and relatives for visitation on Friday, September 16, 2022 from 10:00am - 11:00am followed by a chapel service beginning at 11:00am. A burial will take place following the service at Crown Cemetery, 302-312 Brock Rd S, Guelph.
