

Our beloved mother Irene, passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 9, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Extended Care, in Guelph. Irene was predeceased by her loving husband of 61 years Hugh in 2010. Left to mourn her passing are her children Lorraine (Alec) Peck, Greg (Becky), Cheryl (Tom) Campagnolo, and her sister Joyce Hawkins (Ken). She was a wonderful grandmother to Mark (Raffella), Michael (Melissa), Scott (Tiffany), Jenna and Jeff. A great grandmother to Lucas and Chloe. She is fondly remembered by step-grandchildren Neal and Monique (Donny) and their children. Born in Toronto, Irene was a part of a large extended family – the Dadd’s and Brown’s. She moved to the Rockwood area as a teenager where she met Hugh. They married in 1949 and enjoyed 61 years of marriage. Irene was a Charter Member of Westminster St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church and was very involved in all aspects of the church life. Mom stayed at home to look after her three children, while helping out Hugh in their family-owned business. Hugh and Irene also enjoyed spending time with their family and friends at their winter home in Sebring, Florida. Irene will be remembered for her kindness, wonderful smile, cheerful personality, and her pies! Mom was an accomplished baker and her family always enjoyed her variety of baking at Christmas and other special occasions. We are grateful for her loving support and quiet strength throughout her life. After her declining health in the past two years, we are comforted that Mom & Dad are now reunited with their Lord The family would like to thank the staff at Chateau Gardens in Elmira and St. Joseph’s Extended Care for caring for Irene in her final months. A visitation will held on Wednesday, June 11, from 7pm – 9pm at Gilbert MacIntyre Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon Street, Guelph. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 12, at 11am at Westminster St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, 206 Victoria Rd., Guelph. Please park and enter church from north parking lot. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society, the Canadian Diabetes Association, or to Westminster St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church would be appreciated by the family.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 12, at 11am at Westminster St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Victoria Rd., Guelph.
