Peacefully passed away at her residence on Monday, April 7, 2014. Beloved wife of the late Douglas Hamilton. Predeceased by her first husband Robert Thomas Smith. Loving mother to Heather Weigh (John) of Guelph, Barbara Wynne (Allen), and Robert Smith of England, and step-mother to Susan Fair (Ross) and Jane Hamilton Wilson (Rod). Dear nana to Jonathan Weigh (Lisa), Simon Weigh (Jenny), Elizabeth Zegerius (Gerry), Andrew Higgins (Emma), Matthew Higgins (Christine), and Gareth Higgins, and step-nana to Kate Wilson and Jennifer Wilson. Great-nana to Lilly, Martijn, Aedan, Finn, Jules, Willem, Nicole, Alexander, Owen, Poppy, Thomas. Predeceased by her parents Edward and Esther Millward. Irene leaves behind her sister Hilda. She was predeceased by sisters Esther, Dorothy, and Barbara. She will also be missed by her nieces and nephews and will always be remembered by her friends and family members. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel (519-821-5077). A Funeral Service will be held at Guelph Bible Chapel, 216 Silvercreek Parkway S., Guelph on Monday, April 14, 2014 at 11:00am. A private family burial will happen at a later time.
