
KNIGHT, Jack Vernon— Born on the 1st of October, 1929 in Kennedy, SK, son of Carlyle Knight and Gladys Huffman, passed gently on the 24th of May, 2011. Survived by his wife, Elinor Reed Knight and by his sister, Beth Giroux (Vernon, BC). Always in the hearts of his daughter, Lianne Dubreuil (Alain), grandsons, Sean Knight and Ian Dubreuil, and granddaughters, Sayre Taylor and Bryar Radonovitch. Predeceased by one son, David Knight. Also lovingly remembered by James Leighton (Karen), Jacqueline Leighton (Bruce Jennings), Richard Leighton (Dawn), Miriam Reid (James), and Patricia Leighton. He is also survived by grandchildren, Ian, Tracy, Jeb, Dylan, Sara, Tristan, Matthew, and by three great-granddaughters. Jack's raucous laugh, bushy eyebrows and penchant for a lively discussion will forever be remembered. He enjoyed sharing afternoons of kite flying and evenings of bridge, or watching old movies with family and friends. His passion for computers in the 1950's led him to making his first one in 1971. Jack, as a deejay and square dance caller, provided folks with many evenings of kicking up their heels. He was an avid supporter and twenty-year ticket-holder of the Guelph Storm hockey team. He was a member of the Radio Amateurs of Canada, the Royal Canadian Legion Post # 234, the Wellington Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society, Unicamp of Ontario, and the Guelph Unitarian Congregation. Jack served eight years in the Royal Canadian Air Force. Informal storytelling at a Memorial Service will be held Sunday, May 29, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. at the Unitarian Congregation of Guelph, 122 York Rd., Guelph.
