Passed away at Guelph General Hospital, on Sunday May 24, 2015, in his 79th year. John was born on January 2, 1937, in his beloved country of Scotland. He moved to Canada in the 1960's to make a new life here. He eventually settled in Midland with his wife Pat, and worked for many years in his trade as a Tool and Die maker at Weber. His later years were spent happily in Mini Lakes, near Guelph, where John was the life and soul of any party. He was an avid soccer fan, following England as well as his beloved Leicester City, which we won't hold against him! John will be remembered for many things - amongst them, his love of any sport, his cooking, travel, and time spent with his family and friends. He has a large family in Canada and will be greatly missed by his nieces, nephews and many family members. John is survived by his partner Joan, his sister Anne and his daughters Susan and Shirley. He was a very proud grandfather to Andrew, Samantha, Natalie and Lauren, who will miss him very much. We are so grateful to all the wonderful doctors and nurses at Guelph General Hospital, and would like to give a special thanks to Doctor Ganapathy for her honesty and care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice. Donation cards are available at the funeral home.
