Kenneth James Stephenson, beloved brother, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, passed away on Friday at the age of 63. Ken dedicated 35 years to animation, including his contributions to Inspector Gadget, Carebears, Droids, Stickin' Around, Heavy Metal 2000 and many more. Though ever demanding, his work was one of passion that he enjoyed. Ken was also a wonderful musician. His artistic ability was apparent from a very young age; he began playing guitar years later as a teenager. He played with a few bands as a young adult, but in more recent years, his musical talents were reserved for family functions, reunions with old friends and entertaining his biggest fan: his 6 year old grandson, Joshua. Ken was an exceptional, devoted grandfather. Ken shared with everyone his love of culture and beauty, and his appreciation for good food and good friends. He will be dearly missed. Ken's siblings, David and Marlene Stephenson, are deeply saddened by the loss of their younger brother. Ken's daughter, Jessica, has requested that donations be made in lieu of flowers. Ken supported Greenpeace and sponsors a child through Plan Canada. He also believed very strongly in supporting movements benefiting Native People, protecting animals and empowering women, which is one of Plan Canada's leading campaigns. Ken was a compassionate, generous and patient man. He believed in tolerance and equality for all people. Ken was also very funny. He spent most of his life making people smile, and valued bringing joy to others above all else. He was a true Beatles fan who believed – and lived by his belief - that All you need is Love.
A private Graveside Service will be held on Saturday. A public wake commemorating Ken's life will take place at the Royal Canadian Legion, 15 Wright Ave., Acton on Sunday, September 14th, 2014 from 1 - 5 p.m.
