She was a loving mother to Loraine (Steve) and David (Sue), and a proud grandmother to Angela, Melissa, and Stephen. She will be fondly remembered as a great-grandmother to Jade and William. Leona is also survived by her sisters, Delores and Marlene.
She was predeceased by her husbands, Jack Braun and Norman McKendry; her children, Barbara and Jerry; and her brothers, Len and Ed.
Leona dedicated 20 years of service to the University of Guelph as Registrar, where her commitment and diligence left a lasting impact. Known for her quiet and reserved nature, she found joy in life’s simple pleasures—playing poker, enjoying bingo, and trying her luck at the slot machines.
Leona spent the final four years of her life at the Village of Riverside Glen, where she received excellent and compassionate care. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff for their kindness and support.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
Friends will be received on Thursday, April 2 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Gilbert MacIntrye and Son Funeral Home, 252 Dublin St. N. Guelph. A service will take place in the chapel at 1:00 pm, followed by a reception in the fellowship lounge. Private interment.
