Born January 24, 1939 in Eramosa County, our dear Nita passed away peacefully on July 4, 2021 at Hospice Wellington in Guelph.
Survived by her brother John of Edmonton. Predeceased by her parents Kathleen and Frank Daly, and her sisters Helen and Kay. Beloved aunt to Jennifer, Derek, Dalyse, Melanie, Andrea, Lisa and Lynda. Nita had 12 great and 13 great-great nieces and nephews.
Nita was a free spirit who lived life on her own terms. She was very creative, extremely generous, fiercely loyal and spiritual. She loved Addidas track suits, sports cars and her cats.
Nita began her teaching career in Guelph in 1965 when St. James Junior High School opened. She would spend the next 37years teaching hundreds of Guelph students. Her specialties were art and physical education. She coached many championship girls basketball teams while at St. James. She developed innovative art courses and designed many sport trophies. She also taught at St, Patrick elementary school and St. Bernadette Elementary School. She built house league programs and organized and ran many inter-school tournaments for both elementary and Junior High students. “Miss Daly” was appreciated and loved by her students. She took a genuine interest in every student, showing them kindness and respect and always exploring ways to bring out their best.
Nita was blessed with many lifelong friends who offered her both love and support. Many thanks to Arnold, Nancy, Donna, Meri, Betty Ann and the Mooney family. Special thanks to the kind staff at Hospice Wellington and Guelph General Hospital.
Nita will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
