It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father, Raymond Nankivell in his 99th year. He is survived by his wife of 76 years Elma (Ball) Nankivell, daughter Lesley VanDerMuelen (Tom), sons, David (Tammy) and Andrew (Bridget). Grandchildren Ayla VanDerMuelen (Colin), Erin VanDerMuelen (Aaron), Adam and Kyra, Alissa and Evan Nankivell, and brother, Bernard. Predeceased by son Raymond, grandson Ryan and two brothers, Morley and David. He would have become a great-grandfather in 4 weeks to Ayla’s child.
Ray joined the British Navy at 17 and was demobbed after the war in 1945. He married his sweetheart in 1947 and eventually emigrated to Canada in 1957. He worked as a correctional officer in Guelph at the Reformatory and the Boys Training School (Hillcrest). He retired in 1984. Dad will be remembered by his love of family, love of life. He never complained, was always positive and appreciated every little thing you did for him. He always had a twinkle in his eye.
