

PERCIVAL, Roger Louis Wesley— After a courageous and lengthy battle with cancer, Roger, 63, of Rockwood, Ontario, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2012, at Guelph General Hospital, with Heather Morison, his loving Bride of 3 months, at his side. He was born on March 5th, 1949, in St. Catharines, Ontario, the son of the late Olive and George Percival, and he is survived by his sister, Caroline (David Bacher) of Guelph, and his 3 nieces: Vanessa, Adrienne and Erin. He is also survived by Heather’s children, Leigh Whiting (Ivan Arsovski) of Georgetown, and Mark Whiting (Robyn Kawash) of Guelph, and by 5 step-granddaughters: Hannah and Rachel Arsovski , Olivia and Chloe Whiting and Arielle Kawash. Roger worked for many years in Hardware Retail Sales and enjoyed working with the staff and serving his many loyal customers (especially the ones who brought their dogs in to see him!) at JL’s Home Hardware Building Centre at 389 Speedvale Ave. W. in Guelph. Cremation has already taken place and there will be a Memorial Gathering/Visitation from 1 pm – 4 pm at the Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph, on Saturday, January 5, 2013. A brief Tribute will be held at 2:30 pm. Special thanks to Dr. Bodkin, Dr. Rachakonda, Dr. Bouttell, the Staff at Grand River Hospital and Regional Cancer Centre in Kitchener; Dr. Wesley James, Dr. May, the staff at Guelph General Hospital; the Halton and Wellington EMS Ambulances; and Dr. Lund and all the wonderful Caregivers through the Waterloo Wellington-CCAC who made it possible for Heather to care for Roger at home. In lieu of flowers, donations made in Roger’s name to the WW- CCAC Trust Fund at 450 Speedvale Ave. W. Unit 201, Guelph, ON N1H 7G7 would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to Norman Moore of the Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home and Chapel Ltd. in Guelph.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2012 in the Fellowship Lounge, Hart Chapel from 1pm-4pm.
