

Sharon leaves behind wonderful memories of love, compassion, resilience and strength that will be cherished forever.
Born in Wallenstein, Ontario, on December 22nd, 1947, Sharon was the only daughter of Elmer and Salome Brubacker. She is predeceased by her older brother, Paul (1949) and her younger brothers Barry and Terry (1949).
Beloved wife of Tony Van Manen. Proud mother of Kimberley Lehman (Joel) of Elora, Philip Van Manen (Chandra Chang) of Calgary, Lori Van Manen (Timothy Wowk) of Kingston, and Mark Van Manen of Cambridge. Loving grandmother of Paige and Rylee Lehman, Liam and Lauren Van Manen, and Natalie and Alexandra (Lexi) Wowk. Sharon will be fondly remembered by many extended family members.
Sharon was a gifted music teacher and musician, known for her beautiful singing voice and skillful guitar playing. At age 40, after becoming paraplegic, she embraced her new path with fierce independence, becoming a beloved entertainer and motivational speaker who performed throughout the region. Her unwavering faith empowered her to face life’s challenges with grace and optimism.
A remarkable woman, Sharon mastered driving with hand controls and could effortlessly swing her wheelchair out of the car with one hand. Tony was her hero, though she never hesitated to keep him grounded with her sharp wit and strong spirit.
Sharon will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. A private family service and interment will be held. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled later.
Sharon was a strong advocate and consultant on matters concerning people living with disabilities. As expressions of sympathy, the family would be grateful for any donations to organizations that support this cause, such as Guelph Independent Living, Community Living Guelph Wellington, or to the charity of one’s choice.
