Virginia Gray

GRAY, Virginia Lynn: Died on May 17th, 2010, at age 69 following a long and courageous battle with cancer. She leaves behind her beloved husband Christopher of 48 years and her dear sister Susan (George) Fowlie. Virginia was the Director of Open Learning at the University of Guelph and upon her retirement received the great honour of being elected an Honourary Fellow of the University of Guelph. She was elected a 2007 Guelph YMYWCA Woman of Distinction in the Education and Training Category for Lifetime Achievements. Her professional and national organizations recognized her education and training contributions in Lifelong learning by awarding her Certificates of Excellence Citations. Cremation has taken place. Interment is to be in the family cemetery in Newboro, Ontario. A celebration of Virginia's life will be held at a later date. The family greatly appreciates the extraordinary care and kindness shown by Virginia's personal physician and the doctors, nurses and staff at the Guelph General Hospital. In lieu of flowers a donation to the Foundation of Guelph General Hospital (Oncology) would be appreciated.
