Born in Hong Kong on September 2, 1949, Alex was the oldest of 7 children to Michael and Ann Wong. Being the firstborn in a family of modest means in post-war Hong Kong, Alex vowed at an early age to help support and provide for her family. To that end she steadfastly dedicated her whole life to see that through with fierce determination.
Alex lived a wonderful life, and she was always challenged and importantly, lived up to those challenges. With the credit she was able to transferred from Hong Kong, Alex finished her BA in 2 years, and received her Master’s Degree of Taxation from DePaul University. She was also a CPA.
Alex truly loved global adventures and traveling, and as such, she traveled to the UK and Australia before she turned 30. In the last 20 years, she visited almost all major cities in China from Tibet to Mongolia in the Far East; Germany, Ireland and Scotland in the West. She enjoyed a good argument not much so with women but with knowledgeable men.
Other than traveling, she loved gardening, flowers and shopping for good deals at Kohls.
Alex’s life was a testament to love, resilience, and selflessness. She worked tirelessly to support her family, pursued education with determination, and faced life’s challenges with grace. Her adventurous spirit led her to explore the world, but her heart always belonged to her family.
Though fiercely independent, Alex’s compassion and sacrifices left an enduring legacy. She gave more than she took, and her unwavering love touched everyone she knew.
Alex is survived by all her siblings, nieces, nephews, and extended families. She will be forever remembered with gratitude and affection.”
